Why are there so many BP defenders in here?

Why do you hate cowboys?

I'm more saying that he isn't outside the realm of presidential in doing so. He's free to speak his mind. You don't always have to like what he says, but that doesn't mean he should bite his tongue.

Your analogy is shit. As is arguing from analogies.

So... let's move on.

Using words, what in the heck is your argument here?

What about that statement rates a ? They knew the risks, understood the consequences, and cut every possible corner anyway.

Fuck 'em (BP)...if this cleanup costs them their last dime and they hit the auction block, then so be it.

those "pinchers" was the blow out preventer, moron..the same BOP that FAILED when the rig exploded because the BP "company man" demanded transocean do a procedure that they DIDN'T want to do.

How much of BPs asshole are you going lick??

Congress tells them that they can't drill closer to shore or even on land where everything is more easily controlled.

So when shit hits the fan, BP should be able to hold Congress accountable at least to a certain extent.

I think the part about the deliberately fucking up deserves a Probably more like a or a

Obama is reacting to scrutiny and failing. I'm not so much upset at what he didn't do as much as him just failing to be a leader.

I'm going to slaughter every woman that bears a child, but it's not my fault because I'm not forcing women to bear children. If she does have a child, then her death is of her own volition.

I'm actually not sure what convinced you that you had a good argument there. I'm not seeing it.

Congress isn't forcing them to drill anywhere is the point. There are other locations to drill. They WANT to drill offshore, and one of the rules for off-shore drilling is that it has to be a certain distance away. Congress didn't create the mess....when BP/Transocean agreed to drill out there, they should have understood the consequences of their actions and the legal ramifications for screwing up.
They ignored that, drilled anyways, did terrible work, cut corners, had bullshit clean-up and response protocols, were warned a few more times of the associated risk.

BP went out of their way to seek to drill there, they weren't forced to do so. They didn't have to invest in it, they have other places to go and things their company can invest in energy wise. It was their choice all the while knowing the rules.

I'm not sure what your wild analogy has to do with anything. I guess if you made it legal to slaughter ever woman that has a child....and they decide to have a child and get slaughtered...you could blame the woman?

I doubt anyone would find it morally just.

Using words? As if analogies aren't words...

That's like asking me to travel somewhere, and then when I use a car to travel, you get pissed and demand that I use a vehicle.

What did Obama do (or "not do" or whatever)?

I haven't been paying attention.

so Transocean didn't perform a safety measure because they were told not to? Seems like they put profits over the enviornment

See, now you are just being ridiculous. You know that I'd probably just shoot you in the face.

And BP was in charge of environmental damage and spills. (legally)

So BP should have re-thought what they told them to do.

If BP or any other oil company protested or stated that deep sea oil drilling is much less stable and safe and so on then I could see them saying "hey we told you so.." but if they didn't AND they skimped on safety procedures..I don't see how they would have a strong case.

The same news(and pundits and commentators) who ramped up the emotion angle as well.

You DO have a problem with him speaking his mind...what cracks me up is Obama is cajoled for NOT having emotion and being too "professorial" so the media asks him his opinion then when he gives it.. they get all ..

MEDIA: Obama's kinda connected to this because Dr. Gates is his friend...

MEDIA: President Obama, whats YOUR opinion of the MA cop vs Harvard Professor case?

OBAMA: "well the cop acted stupidly.."

MEDIA: he shouldn't have said that

MEDIA: Obama isn't mad enough. He needs to get madder. Wheres the emotion?? (2-3 weeks straight they ask/demand this)

MEDIA: Do you think youre showing enough anger President Obama?

OBAMA: Well I'm talking to experts now so I'll know whose ASS to KICK (is that enough emotion for you fuckers?)

MEDIA: wow that was not very presidential at all.. we don't need that kind of rhetoric..

it NEVER stops..

They cut corners intentionally. The spill was an accident, but BP's negligence allowed it to happen.

Nowhere did I state or imply that the spill itself was deliberate. But the circumstances that allowed it to happen are the result of their own actions, or lack thereof.
