Why are there hardly any atheists in America yet your culture?

seems kinda far from following gods words
capitalism/greed, non marriage sex, guns/murder, racism support of the death penalty.
I cant believe only 10% of you lot are atheist while 62% of Brits are but your culture would make me think not alot of you believe in God.
Maybe im wrong cause im an athiest but I thought god or jesus was against greed division murder and judging each other.

I totally agree. But, there are more atheists here than you think. There is a social stigma against not believing in the Abrahamic god, so a lot of people lie about their faith, just to not offend people.

I had a girlfriend when I was 17 who was an atheist, and she was too afraid to tell her mother for years.

Meh. Christianity is the most vile religion in history, and I think Christians know it. They are just too ashamed to admit it.
 
That's because Americans are hypocrites and their nation has been founded on double standards.
 
The answer is simple really: many who "claim" to believe in God do not live up to the standards that their religion teaches.

Like others said, money, power, or whatever else is their true god.
