Why are there even Creation/Evolution debates in America?

So far it's mainly about proving each other wrong then each proving themselves right.

1) Evolution - get some fruit flies, mate them for a few generations, new species ta dah!
2) Creationists - Erm...

All I can see what they can rationally agree on is that no one can prove the origin of life etc. Arguing about how life forms are the way they are now is pretty pointless aye?

Then again, Evolutionary theory is pretty useful for biologists, while Creationist theory is throwing everything out the window without offering better solutions.

You are saying that evolution is wrong, now what is your theory to explaining the diversity of life and how it came about?
 
Yes, but most of the real debates take place in courts between creationists who want to teach creationism in school (mostly lawyers) and scientists who care about the truth. So far science and reason are winning the case
 
There is no debate. Evolution is accepted by pretty much 100% of the scientific community, this is why the creationists developed the "wedge strategy"; bypass the scientific peer review process, and go straight to the uniformed public and stir it up to create the illusion of a legitimate controversy
 
You err. Fruit flies can reproduce thousands of generations in the lab. Such massive reproduction of generations should (if evolution is correct) produce a new species. Although the term species has a flexible definition, scientists have not been able to hybridize or in any way cause fruit flies to produce anything but fruit flies. There seems to be a barrier beyond which variation (or evolution) cannot go.
The same is true of sugar beets which have been bred to produce a higher percentage of sugar. A barrier has been found where the beet cannot be caused to produce a percentage of sugar beyond that barrier.
Macro evolution, variation to the point of changing species does not occur in nature and has not been able to be caused in the lab. Darwinism is a lie.
From a creationist perspective one can assume that species will produce, as the Bible states, 'after their own kind.' Maybe you should actually check the facts.
You could also find that many major areas of science were founded by people who had a great respect for the Bible and even for creationism. Take the current method of identifying plants and animals, it was developed by the creationist Linneaus. Just because you hate the facts doesn't change them. When you offer thumbs down show where I err. Oh, you can't.

There really isn't. Just a few deluded idiots making noise. The big problem here is the idiots tend to cluster in one place and start screwing with the schools.

I believe in Evolution and I am Christian. The two dont conflict at all. actually evolution points more to a God. Creationist are just scared of the idea so they make up ways not to beleive it.
