Hello!
The Japanese shinigami is portrayed in a load of ways in animes. Here are a few most prominent examples i know:
Death note Style: Humanoid creatures who kill people to live and to enjoy others pain.
Bleach: Humanoid beings who's job is to protect humans from bad spirits and guide souls to the Soul Society.
Soul eater: A father and son, both of them equally crazy and their task is to protect humans.
Naruto: A being which can be summon, at cost of your life.
My question is : While the western shinigami (Death/Grim reaper) Is mostly portrayed the same way, even in cartoons. The Japanese Death is portrayed in a lot of ways.
What is the reason?
