Why are the AGW deniers so averse to accepting responsibility for contributing to

Because the two head "gurus" admit they have been lying through their teeth and gullible people have believed them.

It means changing their wasteful, destructive lifestyle, and they don't want to do that. Unfortunately for them they will have no choice because there is only a finite amount of oil and millions more people are all using a greater share of it every year, so even if there was no global warming, they'd have to change their ways.
