Why are some people so against black history month?

Let me start off by saying that I know some people say that it is somehow 'racist' for singling out a specific race but I don't think it is at all. And some people say that we should have a white history month but we already celebrate white history, the 11 other months (even though there is Hispanic history month and Asian/Pacific Islander month). I think it is needed to explore other cultures and learn other histories and to reach an understanding of other people. Because it obvious( not from this site because we all know we've got trolls here) that people still hold prejudice views as well as stereotypical ones. When people would say that BHM was 'racist' or people were trying to 'shove it down their throats' I would get defensive. But when I took a step back and looked at it unbiased, I could see how others might feel this way but in the end I came to the above conclusion. So, what I'm really asking you here is, under this logic are designated months helpful or no?
