Why are people quick to thank God for good things in their lives but refuse to blame...

...him for anything bad? Yesterday I heard a woman say "thank the lord" when her son got a job but people will only say it's Gods will if people are suffering horrifically all over the world, that includes innocent children.

If you had a father that abused your sibling but did good things for you would you be happy and thankful that you were treated well and have no compassion or sense of injustice for your sibling?

This is how I see it.

I could never thank God for good things because that would mean he is capable of controlling things therefore he is capable of controlling all the bad things that happen.

Saying it's all part of his plan, works in mysterious ways etc doesn't address the issue of personal feelings and natural compassion we should all have inside us for suffering of others, instead this appears cold hearted to me.

Thoughts please....
@Lotak I don't see how a hild getting abused everyday happens for any justifiable reason or makes them a better person, in fact statictics show that they are likely to abuse others. An all loving good god who loves his creation the way we love our dear ones would not allow anything bad to happen at all, not ever, doesn't make sense. Would you allow your own children to suffer to teach them a lesson or would you walk through fire to protect them. True love cannot be calculated or controlled, it is pure, it is instinct to cherish and take care of loved ones. So either God has no power to prtect, therefore he is not almighty, or he enjoys watching people suffer or he can't ossibly exist as a concept of a loving being.
Sorry for spelling mistakes, sticky keyboard.

I have read the bible in great detail, I would not be able to form my opinions if I had not. THe whole concept of original sin is bizare and evil as way to explain the bad things in the world and lack of Gods presense. A parent who loves their child so much does not just disappear and watch them suffer from afar.
No one can ever answer 2 very important questions, if God created everything then he had no need to create evil, devil, it does not benefit him in anyway. If God is coming back to fix everything then again what is he waiting for all these 100s of years, that doesn not benfit him in anyway either
