why are organic towels better for environment?

This might seem like a silly question, but i was reading up on some stuff to live "greener" and friendlier, and i told my bf that i wanted to buy organic towels etc.. and he was like why are they better for the environment? and i had no answer... I know things organic are generally better for you, but i was just curious.. If anyone has any tips for simple green living (to start Out) and answer my question, as well as any websites that could help me with info (not just stuff to buy) i would appreciate it!

the fibers come from organically grown plants, which means no pesticides or chemicals have been applied. The are better for the environment in that the pesticides and chemicals won't leach into the groundwater and pollute even more. Use recycled materials when available, 100% post consumer content. Less land is used to produce it, fewer trees are cut down and less raw plastic is manufactured. No need to go overboard at once, but be mindful of the impact your purchases has on the environment.
