Why are new 2D animated films so rare?

You're right that is undoubtly beautiful, I just love Animation to bits:)!

Oh bugger! I don't have Sky HD and I LOVE this kind of stuff:(!

Oh well never mind.

Say did you go to the Pixar Exhibition that was held 2 years ago in the Science Museum? All I can say is WOW!!!!! If they ever decide to do another one than I for one would definitely go back because that's just how amazing it was IMHO:)!

I was thinking about the 3D CG films produced so far and if any of them could be considered flops? I can't think of one although I may have missed one or two if they've been straight to DVD or lower budget. However, sitting through the trailers before Wall-E today I may have spotted one. We've got Ice Age 3, Madagascar 2, some film about a french mouse (which looked quite good) and Igor... which looked abysmal! Not one I shall be putting in my diary. However, 4 of the 5 films trailed were animated films and all were 3D CG. Does seem that the 2D animation is as good as dead.

Quick point about Wall-E - wow, photo realistic scenery!

The is a great film, the hours they must have spent making it, doesn't bare thinking about! But with a finished product like that, it makes it all worthwhile.

The Pixar Story is also on standard Sky+ Anytime too and is also on Sky Movies at these times:

Tomorrow (21/08): 12:30am Sky Movies Family
Saturday (23/08): 9:15am Sky Movies Family
Friday 29/08: 8:15am Sky Movies Family

Just bought Persepolis DVD.
I'm fairly familiar with the graphic novel and though I wasn't a big fan I was swept away by the animation in this film. It looks absolutely gorgeous.
2D, black and white and subtitles to boot,:D

Has anyone else seen this film yet?
