i just recently got 3 platy fish. i am a beginner with fish. i have two male and one female. i research on them a lot to make sure i am a good owner. i have found that platys are not agressive, however, one of my two males is extremely agressive to the other. maybe it's because he is trying to breed with the female, or maybe he is just being a bully? i think he is just being a bully because he purposely goes out of his way across the tank to beat on my other male. i don't really know what to do. ah! it's upsetting me! i don't want my fish to kill each other!

If you researched on them a lot you would have read somewhere that you need to have a 1:2 male to female ratio in the aquarium. If not, this occurs. Sooner or later one of the males is sure to kill the other. If you want to remedy the situation, take the lesser male back to the store and ask for a female. If they won't do this, find a new store.

Good Luck!
I hope this helps!

yes he is probably wanting too breed, if you want it to stop get some more females, then the males wont have to fight for a mate, good that you researched your fish too

When having live bearers (such as platys and mollies) it is best to have a ratio of 2 females to 1 male otherwise aggression will ensue. Even when having one of each, the male will harass the female to death. I personally recommend 3 females per 1 male.
