Why are most zombies movies cr@p?

I love zombie movies... My favourites are the Living Dead series by Romero (I'm such a geek that I even actively chose Romero Halls as my university halls of residence because I'm such a ridiculously dorky fangirl) and my guilty pleasure is Peter Jackson's 'Braindead' - LOVE that film!
 
I think the remake is even better, faster paced and much scarier, it gave me nightmares.

Romero's The Crazies which is on after Diary of the Dead is also great, not strictly a zombie film but very similar.
 
Oohh.. everyone's forgetting Day of the Dead here!

Now, although it's probably the weakest of Romero's films (the acting was unbearably bad in some parts), some of the sequences are quite memorable, specifically the dream sequence where all the zombie hanRAB come through the wall and also where the guy in charge gets ripped in half before our very eyes!

I think the whole sub-plot about the 'trained' zombie was a really weak way of saying "Hey guys, we're not all so different after all!"

The original Night of the Living Dead and Dawn of the Dead remain as my favourites though - pretty much on the basis of the fusion of the soundtracks and the imagery. Goblin's music for Dawn of the Dead was just demented.
 
Don't see the remake of Day of the Dead, absolutely terrible!! it makes Romero's look Oscar worthy.

Someone mentioned The Crazies, a remake is currently in production with that Timothy Olymphant guy in the lead.

Oo I recommend Fido, if you watch them because you are a fan of the gore then you might not like it since there is hardly any compared to most in the genre, but I thought it was quite wonderful.
 
i like my zombies old school. Bad acting and slow moving zombies are essential in a zommer film. The italians get it right, Zombie Flesh Eaters (Zombi 2?) is a classic.

Running zombies are just lame, theyre for the fast food generation. Slow walking ones are a scarier threat. They are slow, you can out run them, but they never stop, they dont need to stop and feed, they dont run out of breath they are un-relentless, they will turn more people and eventually you have no where to hide, they will get you in the end, tear you apart and eat your brains!

Kind of looking forward to WWZ when its made... hoping and praying they get it right.
 
I want to see more zombies in costume dramas.

Jane Austen's Pride and Prejudice might be a good place to start. The film could be called Pride and Prejudice and Zombies.

Diary of the Dead was so not scary. I could have showed it to my gran at 12 midnight, with thunder and lightning outside, and she wouldn't have been scared.:eek:

And it had that awful shaky camera again.:mad:
