Why are most zombies movies cr@p?

You'd think it would be easy to make a good zombie film.

Get around 10 moderately good actors, some fast running zombies. An effective band of make up artists.

A flimsy plot revolving around a mad scientist whose mission to rid the world of death results in the birth of manic, super speed super hungry zombie flesh eaters.

And pronto, a great film.

Alas, it doesn't work like that. There's usually trash acting, hardly any gore, and a pathetic ending.

Is that the one where the dorky hero goes through a ton of zombies with a lawnmower and enRAB up knee deep in blood and body parts? :p

I must admit, that scene really made me squirm!


I'm still quite fond of the old Hammer film: Plague Of The Zombies. Silly plot about a miserly Tin Mine owner using zombies as cheap labour so he didn't have to pay any wages, :rolleyes: but it had an effective coming-out-of-the-grave dream sequence in the middle that still stanRAB up quite well.
 
Dawn of the dead original and '2004' were great, day of the dead 'cheesy' but still scary. 28 days later scared crap out of me.

New zombie films are just lacking soo much like decent acting take diary of the dead Romeros weakest rubbish zombie film acting is so bad the zombies were ok bit the reaction by the 'actors' so cr@p. I don't think we will see another decent zombie film fir a very long time.
 
Saw Rec the other day, brilliant movie. Can only guess how bad the American version is.

Plenty of good zombie movies out there, and Romero's Night/Dawn/Day are out-and-out classics.
 
I watched about 15 minutes of Diary of the Dead last, then switched off. It was so bad.:eek:

My favourite zombie film is probably the original Night of the living dead.:)
 
Diary was pretty atrocious. I was very disappointed when it came out, because I was really looking forward to it! Plus, it's not as if my standarRAB were that high, since I loved Land of the Dead - mainly for it's social commentary *coughAsiaArgentocough*...
 
I think the last serious, well-made zombie move was the Dawn of the Dead (2004). And I agree the 1968 film was good, in black and white.
 
Quarantine actually isn't that bad, it does get a bit boring in bits though, I haven't seen the original so cannot compare.

I think there are a lot of good zombie movies aswell, Dawn of the Dead (remake) being my favourite.
