Why are girls so easily influenced by the media?

On an oparah show it had guys who did not find a girl attractive, they made her a celeberty and they still did not find her attractive, yet girls do. Why is that?
How come girls are more easily influenced by media than boys?
Personally I've found myself influenced in one way or another.

From an evolutionary stand point women are meant to be social. When raising children it is best to have support of a social group. To be part of that group you need to fit in and not stand out.

Men are the hunters providers. They need close friends to help them with a big kill but to many friends and the food will not go around. They are generally more loners at first. They can also be influenced by society as they need help or may want to raise there status to attract more mates.

The media puts more pressure on girls than they do on boys. They establish and enforce their version of what an 'ideal' female is, an unattainable image that they force girls to acquire through purchasing beauty products.

I agree. I would like to know also. I think it's because girls want to fit in. Girls usually follow the latest trend and find ways to compete with other girls. The media puts so much pressure on young girls to be ideal and attractive like the girls the put center stage. It has a lot to do with confidence and self-esteem. From a young age, I believe girls are taught to value their looks over all things. And because of that, girls aren't taught to value their mind. Also, because the media puts out images of ideal girls, male peers make it even more difficult. You know the story, boy chases girl. And what girl doesn't want to be chased? Boys can be shallow and will only chase girls who they see fit the image of the attractive model they see in the media. As I see it, girls want to fit in, they want to look better than the next girl and have the attention of the boys.
