Why are Christians/Catholics so ignorant when it comes to sex?

My housemate has a book from his Catholic high school about sex and it says that women will "never get cervical cancer if they remain virgins" It also says that "condoms cause STDs and don't prevent pregnancy, so people shouldn't wear them."

Then the pope comes out and says that he believes condoms will make the AIDS epidemic in Africa WORSE. Where do they come up with these things and why are they so gullible/ignorant to believe it?
Giz - No, he doesn't believe any of that crap. He's a smart man.
 
Because they think sex is an evil thing and should ONLY be used to make kids, s**t thinking like that cause accidental babies and the spread of stds

Surveys show that most American Catholics (and Catholics in other Western countries) just ignore the Pope when it comes to these issues. So your outrage is misdirected. You really should get to know more Catholics.
 
The injunctions from their church commence them do think otherwise. The ecumenical sect known as Catholicism endeavors upon dispeling any form of unmarried sexual encounters because of a fabricated book written thousands of years ago in the age of superstition.
