Why are Americans whining about the economy so much? It has been booming for me....

...What about you? I am in a few different businesses, including renewable energy turbine designs and energy industry consulting. I have never been busier. I have more money coming in so far for 2009 than during 2008 and 2007 put together; it's nuts.

As far as I am concerned, the economy is booming. And you know what? I still see plenty of big, expensive vehicles on the road. People are clearly doing just fine in this economy.

Yeah, I guess it's possible that people are losing their jobs in Michigan or something, but definitely not around here. Why are Americans such whiners when it comes to today's economy?

If you get laid off, don't sit at home and cry about it - start a low-capitalization business you can run from home! Do SOMETHING! But more than anything else, get off your lazy butt and stop whinin'!

True to some extent ..I was in a sporting goods store the other day and also at a boat dealership..I have never seen so many people buying things in all my life....While at the boat dealership I saw 3 boats sold in a matter of 5 mins

Not doing to badly in my state but this economy is hurting most and if you haven't felt it yet you probably will. If not be grateful.

These Republican so-called capitalists are too consumed with clinging to the corpse of antiquated industries to see the new opportunities that will lead America out of this economic crisis.

Yeah, you're dead in the crosshairs of trillions in government boondoggle deficit spending. It'll be nice while it lasts, for you, not so nice for the rest of us when the bill comes due. The same thing happened in the 80s with SDI. Lots of engineers made lots of money working for various areospace and defense contractors, then, the Cold War ended, the funding dried up, and it took them years to find new jobs at half the pay...

Shhh,,,, Don't let the Democrats find out your doing well or they wil tax you.

Yup,, Times are sure tough all over,, (hides money in shoe)

Hi,
Michigander here, I'm laid off, but far from lazy, and when I whine I'm usually in the choir. My goal of course is to find employment that most closely resembles my past experience, and to be compensated accordingly. If I find that I can not achieve this goal, then I will lower myself down the food chain ( pay scale ) until, if necessary I work at McDonald's, but it does take time. Knowing that jobs were so plentiful 10,15, and 20 years ago, only adds to whining.
Glad to see that you're doing so well though.

I agree totally. Were it not for the media I wouldn't even know we are in a recession... I'm still spending money like an Asian tourist in a strip club and socking away a grand a month AFTER my lavish lifestyle, and I don't even make a lot of money!

I know a few folks who are out of work, but they were lazy and incompetent BEFORE. Now they just say "O dear, the economy" as an excuse.
