Because capitalism is responsible for every single last advance made in the last 200 years. Complain about it all you want, but the fact that you are on a computer, attached toa readily-available electrical supply, generated by a giant turbine run by a utility company proves what a hypocrite you are. If you luddites wish to divorce yourselves from capitalism, it's only fair for you to do so without the fruits of capitalism, so get out into that cave and pipe down.

first off laissez faire capitalism wasn't that vast during the time of monarchs, and colonialism, with tariffs and restriction on who and who you can't sell too.

Also you are comparing a much bigger time span to an incredible short one (plus Vietnam was part of the cold war which was an ideologically war between capitalism and socialism/communism).

Even with that time span, China and Russia caused more death is such a limited time, due to massive starvation and a massive 40 year war.

World population has only been growing and China had a large % of it, thus more people died due to socialism/communism.
