brand new or used? used is because rx-8 are gas and oil guzzlers and that most people dont really know how to take care of rotary engines because mechanically they are different from piston engines which are in the majority of cars on the road. rotary engines tend to use more oil and the way people drive thinking that the rx-8 is a sports car is one approach as to why it uses a lot of gas.

Also, they are difficult to maintain, and the engines do not last as long unless driven properly.

A rotary engine NEEEEEDS to be driven hard to avoid debris build-up in the engine. Where a piston'd engine would just push contaminants out of the way, the wankel rotary doesn't move that way, and it much more sensitive to garbage in the engine. A rotary engine needs to be spun like damned top!
