Why am I so tired?

I'm a 22 year old female and for the past maybe 2-3 months or so I've been feeling so exhausted. It seems like its been worse this past month. I wake up feeling okay or maybe sometimes still tired but then I'm ready for a nap only after two hours of waking up. I can sometimes take up too three naps (lasting about a half hour to an hour and a half) a day plus sleeping 7-8 hours at night. Even with all this sleep time I still find myself tired throughout the day and exhausted before I go to bed at night. Somedays I feel like I could sleep for days. I don't go to school or have a job so its not like I'm over worked. I basically hangout at my house most of the day so theres no reason why I should be tired. I'm not on any medcations either. I've given up on a lot of the things I use to do like going to the gym, hanging out with friends and hiking because I dont have the energy anymore. It can even be difficult for me to do even the most basic things. I just want to sleep most days. I don't have health insurance and cant aford a doctor. Could this be some kind of vitamin deficiency? Or maybe something more?

You should get some blood work done. You could be anemic or have mono or something. Not to scare you. Its just always good to get a workout done. Get on a good vitamin too.

get ur bloods done asap could be a number of reasons why ur feeling so tired im the same turneds out i have a under active thyroid

I agree to first get some blood work done to rule out anemia, underactive thyroid, low blood sugar, etc. Those can be some common causes. I deal with similar feelings, but my blood work is normal. Here are a few other questions... do you ever feel depressed? Depression can really drain your energy, as can anxiety and other similar things. Do you feel stressed? Even without a busy schedule, some people are easily stressed and this can make you feel exhausted too.

If these items don't seem to apply, take a look at your eating habits and activity level. You say you stopped going to the gym... exercise DOES help energy level. The hard part is getting out there to work out when you are so tired! To get my butt to the gym when I'm super tired, I just have some coffee. I hate to rely on caffeine, but once I get out there and exercise 5 times per week, it keeps my energy more stable. Try a workout earlier in the day for best results if you feel tired within a couple of hours. I try to work out during my lunch breaks at work and find that it helps prevent those afternoon slumps I tend to get. If you eat a diet high in carbs and processed foods, this can make you sleepy too. I have been trying to eat more fruits and veggies and lean protein and it's made such a difference. I used to eat too many lean cuisines and processed junk like that and it made me feel sluggish. Fresh foods help me feel better!

Lastly, you might want to talk to your doctor about chronic allergies/sinus issues. I realized that this runs in my family and I suspect I have this. Do you ever feel like you have a cloudy feeling in your head? I don't get sneezy and allergens here are not even high right now, but I seem to have pressure in my head and on my face. It could be from something as simple as dust. Just another idea to look into.

Oh yeah- maybe you are not sleeping well. You might get enough sleep, but perhaps it's not a deep sleep. YOu can always look into sleep tests to check this out.

Hope you feel more energized soon! I am hoping the same thing gets better with me too :)
