Why am I so afraid of horror movies? What can I do to ease the nightmares and nausea?

I'm 19 years old. I can't watch horror movies because they personally scare me. I'll get nightmares and I'll feel nauseated. I don't want to seem as a big baby. Why am I so afraid of horror movies? What can I do to ease the nightmares and nausea? My boyfriend loves horror movies and knows that I hate them. We doesn't watch any horror movies around me.
