I rarely think of hot guys in my idle thought. I only notice guys sexually when Im around other girls who also could be looking at them as well? Why is that?

Why am I only attracted to guys when Im in a competative environment?

Perhaps you are subconciously confusing sexual attraction with the attraction of having power and status.

Because you are not actually attracted to them. You like the chase. I had a friend that only liked guys that other girls liked. When she ended up dating them, she would break up with them shortly afterward.
Some people like the thrill of the hunt better than the actual catch. It sounds like you are one of those people, and realize that you have that problem (which is a good thing to realize).
Don't go after these guys. They won't make you happy. Wait until you find a guy that does enter your idle thoughts. You will know when you find someone you are truly attracted to.
There is no reason to feel the need to compete, because at the end of the day, it wont make you happy.

Firstly, call me suspicious but sounds like you might doubt your sexuality. I might be entirely wrong.
But on the main point, it's perfectly natural to be attracted to something because someone else wants it. It presents a challenge to see who can get the desired thing or person.
It's not fair on anyone though esp yourself. I stole my friends girlfriend just because he was going out with her. Sure I had feelings for her but only after he went out with her. They faded away though.
