someone who lived outdoors? Hint: calcium and phosphorus are important to bone and tooth structures

Because a lack of vitamin D...we get vitamin D from sunlight.

"Vitamin D is essential for strong bones because it helps the body use calcium from the diet. Traditionally, vitamin D deficiency has been associated with rickets, a disease in which the bone tissue doesn't properly mineralize, leading to soft bones and skeletal deformities. But increasingly, research is revealing the importance of vitamin D in protecting against a host of health problems."

sunlight stimulates the release of vitamin D which is essential for absorption of calcium from in our intestines.

we dont get vitamin D from sunlight. the UV rays merely stimulate its production in the skin.
