Who's Using Their Phone As An MP3 Player?

Part of my new blog is to have a weekly (or maybe bi-weekly) feature on how to use your s60v3 phone in day-to-day life. I've noticed that alot of us use our phones as mp3 players, but I think there's several different ways to do it, and I'm interested to know what everyone uses and what they think are the pros and cons.

So, post what you use to manage your mp3s on your PC, and how you typically transfer them over, and if you think it's a good system, or if you consider it a harsh workaround.
 
I use the N91 as my primary mp3 player. The sound quality on it is amazing.

No other ipod/creative type mp3 can compare to it, imo. I have a powerbook, so I basically just use drag/drop to move my music around and I have my phone plugged in as a mass storage device. After transferring music , I can create playlists on my phone pretty quickly. Creating a playlist with 15-20 songs will take about 1 min. I use it along with the portable controller given by nokia, so I don't need to take the phone out of my pocket or holder when I want to change songs, play/pause or even to answer calls. With version 2.00 and above, the phone supports Windoze DRM as well. My phone is pretty stable, I've been able to run multiple apps at the same time.
 
s60v2 users are encouraged to respond, too.

Reason I ask is that I recently switched from using iTunes to Winamp, but I know people use their phones different ways and I'm interested in the most seamless method, I guess.
 
i use my ngage and n73, but for the ngage i just rename the files in a certain order and the ngage will play according to that order
 
I use Amarok, and just defined my MMC card as a media device so I can sync files over to it (usually albums at a time) pretty easily.

It's seamless for me, except for that part where I have to remove my battery to get the MMC card.
 
I used Amarok this way as well, but finally ditched it in favor of good 'ole XMMS. I use Amarok now solely for it's musicbrainz capabilities (for cleaning up id3 tags), and once all the tags are cleaned up, I just drag the songs to the /music folder on my miniSD and let the phone find them when I update the library. Works well, and if I need to add something new I either do it through a card reader (for large amounts), or just with the USB (for smaller).

But even more than MP3's I use my phone for Shoutcast constantly now. I know some peolpe complain about EDGE, but I have no problems with a 128k stream, and of course use WiFi when at home.

Hi having just got rid of my 2nd phone that i was using for Music i have now started using my N93. I used the Nokia Music Manger and just set it to auto convert my Music into AAC @ultra high 192kbps and use the Nokia AD-46 with a pair of Sony EX71SL headphones and must say am very happy with the sound it gives in fact more than happy. I have found the process of converting and moving to my memory card simple and easy and as stated before the results are excellent in fact much better than my previous solution as although i was using bluetooth headphones and thought the sound was good. I have found the sound now to be much better and no longer lust for A2DP on the N93 as the sound now is much more detailed and richer IMO.

i use mine as a mp3 player...use a card reader to transfer my songs, and use winamp to create my playlists..

i have the ad-46 and use my sony mdrex71sl head phones too =)
 
I also use my N93 as my main mp3/podcast player. Some occasional video watching also.

I did give it the sandisk 2 gig card and ad-41 treatment. I also have the ety er4 and the sure e4c.
The ad-41 is annoying as the cable is too long, ad the long cable of the ear phones and it starts getting messy.
 
same here...

i am even planning to bring out my 6230 out of retirement buy buying it with a 4GB MMC+, then dress it up with a white faceplate, and use my white sony MDR-EX71 with a white moded pop-port or just use this white Nokia HS-23 stereo headset, this will be a true mini-ipod killer....
 
they have 4GB MMCs now? Holy mother...I wish I'd never sold my 6230, I had it unbranded and updated, and spent so long searching for a true black housing, the same color black as that strip down the side, was fixin to get a 6230i keypad till i sold it. Sucks, such a great phone.

However, maybe I should have clarified more. What setup do most people use to organize their music on their computer and then send to the phone? It almost seems as though most are simply dragging and dropping, with no software middleman to help organize. Is that accurate?
 
^ i almost sold my 6230 as well, but it is such a great phone! it looks like new again with a new faceplate....

btw, i use nokia music manager, it aint bad...
 
I prefer OggPlayer, as most of my music has gradually become ogg's over the past couple years, and it's a better player then the default anyway.

BUT, one thing I love about the default is how it shows up on the main screen with artist -track info

That's essentially what I do... I copy a few albums over (ripped by Grip) and then use OggPlay to keep the tracks organized (by artist/album). OggPlay has amazing organizational abilities.
 
I use it. I have about 650 megs of MP3s on my phone. Use most Oggplayer but I find it that sometimes the volume is not loud enough. For that I use another programs with an equalizer. That seems to work a lot better, however it kills my battery.
