Who's the Mel Blanc of today?

I'm surprised no one has mentioned Dee Bradley Baker. I believe his voice range is just as good as Blanc and Welker. He is able to be people, animals, and monsters. You can hear most of his talent in shows like Codename: Kids Next Door, Avatar: The Last Airbender, and Star Wars: The Clone Wars.

Frank Welker by a mile. When watching a cartoon, I always joke with my wife that I bet Frank Welker does at least one of the voices...and usually he is in the credits.

I would say Corey Burton since he does have quite a bit of vocal range and voice acted for a long time. He is a very talented man and nice as well.

You may be selling Frank a bit short there....I mean if you only take his villainous roles into account, then he has four completely different voices: Megatron, Dr. Claw, Bigtime Beagle/McWolf, and Dr. Viper. For his good guys he has his regular Freddy voice, Nibbler, Mirage and Trailbreaker (who did soud sort of similar, granted). Then there's his crazy voices like Jabberjaw, Dynomutt and Ralph/Runt, but even those three sound very different.

I love Jim Cummings, but a good bulk of his work is the raspy, manic Negaduck/Pete/Razoul kind of voice, especially when it comes to one-shot characters. I wouldn't put him in Blanc or Welker's league in terms of range (though he makes up for it by having superb comic timing).

Oh yeah, for my answer, Welker. Cummings, Jeff Bennett, Billy West and at a push John DiMaggio are the main challengers.

I concur with you about Frank Welker and Jim Cummings, but I thought Jim would be more like a modern Paul Frees, but for a modern Daws Butler, in my opinion, Bill Farmer should get an honorable mention.

Tom Kenny and Frank Welker.

Heck, the latter who original voiced Fred from Scooby-Doo also did voices that false claims that Speilberg did in Tiny Toons, like the cartoonist in the first episode.

Frank Welker did the BEST AND ONLY Plotz ever in "Animaniacs", that's probably one of the first Welker voices I remember.

I'm a bit surprised that Jim Cummings isnt on the list, I always saw him as Disney's answer to Mel Blanc to WB. But since he aint on the list, I'll go with Frank Welker.

Call me crazy, but I think LittleKuriboh of Yu-Gi-Oh Abridged fame might be the Mel Blanc of today. Some of his voices are voices Mel might have done, IMHO...

I think the better question is who is the Frank Welker of today.

He took the torch from Mel, but hasn't really done all that much in the past few years. There's a whole new generation of voice actors that are trying to do as many roles as Mel and Frank did in their heyday, but who do you think would be the next big one?
