Who were these "heroes of old, warriors of renown" that are discussed in

Genesis 6? Perseus? Heracles? It seems that God's sons found the women of earth beautiful and ended up having children with them. Strangely familiar to greek myths.
Is this further evidence of the bible pillaging other mythical texts for legends and mythical anecdotes? Zeus had children. We haven't heard much from the children of the God of Abraham... but according to the bible, they were sleeping with our women.

Genesis 6
1And it came to pass, when men began to multiply on the face of the earth, and daughters were born unto them,

2That the sons of God saw the daughters of men that they were fair; and they took them wives of all which they chose.

3And the LORD said, My spirit shall not always strive with man, for that he also is flesh: yet his days shall be an hundred and twenty years.

4There were giants in the earth in those days; and also after that, when the sons of God came in unto the daughters of men, and they bare children to them, the same became mighty men which were of old, men of renown.

there are no records of them in scripture but they were called nephillum and were most likely men like the fictional Conan the barbarian type figures

History Channel did a story on the "apocryphal" (missing) books of the bible once and it mentioned that one paragraph. Apparently the phrase refers to tales of Pagan gods from other nearby lands as well as massive humans that resulted from the mixing of human and angels. There are also some lost ancient Jewish books which supposedly detailed the things these "mighty men" had done. I think one book is even called the "Book of Giants."
