Probably Freddy, simply because he is the personification of evil.Possibly the most evil character in film history.
Jigsaw is a close second in terms of horror characters - he's so complex.I like how the producers created him a bitter monster in the first and second but have done everything to make him into the hero guy as the puzzle comes together! In the 6th installment he is basically the good guy!
Agreed 100%. Heather Langenkamp deserves more credit than she gets, and Robert Englund is the only Freddy who'll ever matter. (The remake was absolute crap)
Both of them are very "human" but very complex and capable of anything to justify their actions.
I find that quite scary. And you can imagine its entirely possible for it to happen in real life..
The original Halloween film freaked me out big time when I first saw it, I was forever watching the back garden and checking behind hedges for weeks after. And the original SAW film was a complete "WTF!" shock. I still love having the feeling of "will I be able to watch the traps" in the cinema every Halloween.
The original and the best, 'Count Dracula'. Be it Bela Lugosi, Christopher Lee, or more recently Gary Oldman.
The count is the Archetypal horror figure.
