Who was the first cricketer to appear in more than 150 Test matches?

The first player to appear in 150 test matches was Allan Border, who played his 150th test against New Zealand in Brisbane in 1993. In all, Border played 156 tests from 1978-1994, including a record 153 consecutive test matches. He was dropped after his 23rd test but then played every match after he got back into the side.
