...collected? This is a hard question I did feel I must ask.I apologise if it upsets anyone.I am certainly not anti Jewish. I am 64 and all my life I have heard the figure of 6 million and didnt give it a second thought. Now someone suggests it may have been a lower figure (however reviled they may be) a guy with a curious mind like me begins to want to look into it. I do think we may as well have let Hitler go ahead and take over the world if we are going to criminalise anyone who dares to be different, I have heard the figure of 300,000 mentioned. That is still a terrible crime. We do know British troops liberated bergen belson in 1944/5. They was so shocked by what they saw they took a film of it and forced the local German people to watch it. The retreating SS had blown up most of the ovens. The russians liberated Auchwitz. There must have been gas chambers, otherwise how could they have forced them into the ovens? No one argues about the fact,I think the degree could be looked into further. Please only serious replies, but what are your thoughts?

i've thought this myself (just because i like the history channel!) i think the question is purely academic, as it matters not if it was 100,000 people (jews and others) or 6 million, it should be a lesson from history never to be repeated.
however, on just a fact by fact basis, there does seem to be less available sources. whether this is just of interest to fact finders and number crunchers is a matter of opinion x

in the mid 60's the YMCA camps were home to a series of grisly murders that baffled police for years before they finally threw up their hands in defeat. The total was calculated to be over a million deaths in a month
