Who was a good philosopher? poet?

Anybody besides aristotle or Plato. Someone interesting, and that would keep a teenager's attention. I'm looking for a philosopher and poet that I can look upon for inspiration. Someone who can give me a better understanding of life. Nobody that is boring and dull but vibrant and idea provoking. Any suggests?
