Murder on the Orient Express
AgathaChristie Rating: ***(3 out of 4)

“Only by interrogating the other passengers could I hope to see the light, but when I began to question them, the light, as Macbeth would have said, thickened.” Murder on the Orient Express gives you the whole package of mystery, murderer, and suspense. Read on to see why!
The plot is about an unusual murderer. High in the mountains, a train is stopped by a snow storm. One hour later a passenger becomes uncomfortable because she feels as if someone is in her compartment. Detective Hercule Poirot goes to check it out. He finds a passenger named Ratchett stabbed to death. Poirot agrees to accept this case in order for him/her to face justice.
The conflict is that Poirot is having trouble figuring out who the murderer really is. With a limited number of clues and many passengers on board the train, it is very difficult for him. He doesn't know if the murderer is still on board or if he/she has escaped. A lot of passengers appeared to have a motive.
The main characters in the story are Pierre Michel (conductor); Mary Debenham (Governess); Colonel Arbuthnot (officer); Hercule Poirot (Detective); Monsieur Constantine (Doctor); and Samuel Ratchett (The victim).
Poirot arranges an appointment with each passenger that boarded the Orient Express. He asks them questions about where they were at the time of the crime, and what they saw and/or heard. When Poirot gathers his results, he concludes that all the passengers were the murderer.
This story was so captivating. This mystery novel was “mysterious”, and suspenseful. I like Poirot 's personality, which is to act skeptical. I was amused when Agatha Christie added a little of French to the story. I would recommend this novel to people who love to read mysteries.
I like how the setting took place on a train at night. She set a calm mood. The cover of the book was attractive. Lastly, Agatha's flow of sentences are good; One sentence led to the next.
I found the characters to be realistic. This novel actually includes real countries the characters are from. Agatha made the plot very interesting yet very detailed which any reader will be drawn to. My opinion is that the story is well written. He flow of ideas is in sequential order. The story was good. I don't have any personal knowledge about the topic in the story.
I recommend this book. It is extremely dramatic as you read the ending. The witnesses sound “interrogating” to me. Agatha's work on grabbing the readers attention was good. I found that it is worth reading the book. Au revoir!
