I am skeptical of Microsoft technologies. They are usually not as professional and complete as they should be. They always have some short comming or trade offs when there should be none as it is entirely their product. I am skeptical of ASP.NET as well. I don't know who uses it among professional sites (I know monstor.com uses asp.net). But i would be more interested in sites like eharmony.com or any major site which attracts large number of customers, maybe a video blogging site. Please compare it with PHP sites, who uses PHP on the other hand?
The real deal is professionalism. Is ASP.NET as proffessional as PHP? I know microsoft's own hotmail sucks. It can not be accessed from IPhone and its interface sucks too. It is in no way in competition with gmail or yahoo mail. May be it is written in ASP?
