Who thinks the Straight Edge lifestyle has lost its way?

I would consider myself Vegan Straight Edge.

Does anybody else here think that Straight Edge has gone from a positive Lifestyle rejecting all alcohol, drugs and saying that I don't want to do something because that's my choice, to being a scene, being militant macho jerk trying to have another label?
It seems to me it has.
I don't see the point in having Xs on my hands, having "stay true" tattooed on 10 different places on my body, wear the clothes saying "drug free" on them because I know I don't eat animal products or meat, I don't drink, smoke or do drugs so whats the point in all that?

Do you agree that its just become another label? and not a lifestyle.

I just asked this just see if other people who are staright edge or are associated with staright edge agree, so no stupid answers from stupid people please.
Well yeah thats what I'm saying.

I went to a show a few days ago and the way some people were acting pissed me off.

And thats the point I'm trying to put across, Its not people abstaining from drugs and meat, its a bunch of militant wackos with a label.

The whole point of this question was to see if anybody agrees.

I had never heard of the term but I think very little of any body's motives when they advertise their lifestyle so predominately.

Edit. I had never heard the term so I did a little googling to learn more. If you think that it has evolved to something that you do not like I would say that was probably preordained judging from whence it was born.

Straight edge was never meant to become a movement; it was originally about staying true to yourself and resisting peer pressure, not beating people up at shows for enjoying a beer.

So yeah, I think it's definitely lost its way.
