Who thinks that The Bible contradicts itself so much it might as well be...

...called The Book of Lies?
^ Here are just a few of my many examples, edit your questions if you want to challenge them, or even just apologise for being wrong as seems I do have examples :)
Examples: Genesis 1 and 2 disagree about the order in which things are created, and how satisfied God is about the results of his labors. The flood story is really two interwoven stories that contradict each other on how many of each kind of animal are to be brought into the Ark--is it one pair each or seven pairs each of the "clean" ones? The Gospel of John disagrees with the other three Gospels on the activities of Jesus Christ (how long had he stayed in Jerusalem--a couple of days or a whole year?) and all four Gospels contradict each other on the details of Jesus Christ's last moments and resurrection. The Gospels of Matthew and Luke contradict each other on the genealogy of Jesus Christ's father; though both agree that Joseph was not his real father.

Think about the men of that era. Most of them didn't have much education. Used herbs to heal themselves and some of them must have been hallucinatory. At that time, women were viewed as servants to men. This is why women are not respected. If people would remember that the Bible was written by men and not by God we would be in a better place. Read Mary Daly's revisions of the Bible. Her interpretations are outstanding.

The Bible is not one book, it is a collection of books and were written all written by different people, it's not that surprising if you find inconsistencies in books written thousands of years ago when pen and paper were not easily available and people had to remember most things.

You can't really blame the book for that, or it's original purpose: to record moralistic stories which people might like to live by.

Blame whoever first got the idea of taking the thing literally.

Well, I've seen at least one contradiction before but with verses like these in the bible, one has to wonder if there might not be a reason for them.

Proverbs 3:5 Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding.

Like perhaps they will make sense one day when prophecies get fulfilled, etc. One really can't know with a book like the bible because things might come to pass yet again and be somewhat different.

I think if more people would read the whole book and then think about the life we live....and what is taking place.....you will find it to be right to the point and very true.....one will eat their own words......Christ is yet to come. [smiles]

Contradicting and telling lies are 2 different things... If you wanted to call it the book of contradictions then that's fine, but I doubt you have read all of it... I don't like the bible. It's racist and sexist... But I don't mind it if other people read it and love it... each to their own, innit?
