Who thinks stop motion looks better than CGI in some cases?

Absolutely, if the frames are captured at every minute movement and coupled with the finest in macro technology, the object not only IS real, but appears to scale. Take the newer star wars movies in contrast, the CGI is so easily dispensible, it fails to be special effects and crowds the actual substance of the movie, giving us now "ordinary effects" that are washy and hard to grasp for even the keenest of eyes get the feeling they are playing a high quality video game.

Not for everything but I think the stop motion robots in Robocop 2 look better than I Robot, or Dragonslayer compared to The Hulk. I think models and stop motion should still be used for some things depending on the required textures.

I love stop-motion animation! Some of the finest examples are of course Ray Harryhausen's beautiful films like "Jason and the Argonauts" and the Sinbad series.

Stop-motion is a real labor of love, as it is very precise and time-consuming. You can tell when something is made by someone who really cares, as opposed to quickie CGI that can be whipped-up in a few hours. That's what I love about stop-motion.

I agree..stop motion is terrific...and so is CGI....but sometimes...Stop motion just looks better...it's amazing how it's all real..and captured frame by frame.
