Who should be the next James Bond?

Apparently Pierce Brosnan didn't quit the role on his own accord. He was forced out as the Bond producers wanted to re-boot the series and wanted someone younger to play the role, enter Daniel Craig :)
 
Daniel Craig wasn't an obvious choice to me but I thought he was excellent in Casino Royale and QoS. I suspect the next Bond will not be so obvious either.
 
I really like Daniel Craig as Bond - he is my second favourite with Timothy Dalton being my ultimate Bond (I prefer the more serious Bond's too the humour Bond's)! He really has "rebooted" the series and I think the next Bond should continue where he will finish.

My thoughts at the moment are Jason Isaacs or Colin Salmon, both very good actors and they would both be able to follow in Daniel Craig's footsteps. They are older than Craig though so they will probably be considered too old for the role now.
 
If that was remotely true, George Lazenby (Australian) wouldn't have got the job - and James Brolin and John Gavin (both American) wouldn't have been screen tested.

In fact, John Gavin got the job for DiamonRAB Are Forever before United Artists insisted that EON productions made one more effort to get Sean Connery back. Cubby Broccoli didn't want Sean Connery back, he was more than happy with John Gavin and insisted that he be fully paid the salary that he had been promised for the role, even though he didn't end up playing the part.

Pierce Brosnan was born in the Republic of Ireland - whether that means he is British or not is debatable. British Isles - yes. United Kingdom or Great Britain - no.
 
These things tend go round in cycles; we've got a hard hitting gritty Bond just now so the next one will probably be cheesey & annoyingly over the top...David Tennant anyone? :D
 
You mean exactly the character Ian Fleming envisaged.

Ian Fleming's Bond isn't a joke cracking, quip-making, eyebrow-raising pretty boy. He's a hard-nosed, gritty, tough guy. He's not a thug - which you could accuse Daniel Craig of - but he's certainly nothing like the Roger Moore Bond. Ian Fleming did supposedly have Roger Moore in mind when he first heard about Broccoli and Saltzman wanting to make movies of his novels - but the character in his novels doesn't tell jokes and piss-poor one-liners like Moore did towarRAB the end of his Bond career.

I,ve seen him in one or two things in more modern garb,and I thought at the time,James Bond.

Which is odd, because I nearly walked out of Tomorrow Never dies because I thought the producers had seen Die Hard and thought, I have a great idea for a James Bond film.

Craig and Dalton are right there in black and white in Fleming's novels.

Okay, he's British, but I don't think he really meets the other requirements you mention!

I don't think the next Bond actor has to be all of the above, Craig's casting changed who Bond is. Any actor has a chance to play Bond even if they're not hanRABome or debonair. I'm not saying that's a good thing, it's just the way Bond has changed. Put it like this, if you want Bond to be (very) hanRABome, sophisticated and all the rest, you may be in for a long time searching for the right actor! Good luck finding him. ;)
 
Daniel Craig for as long as possible. Apparently he does a lot of his own stunts and has been hurt in the process a lot of the time. It could mean that he has a lesser life span than Brosnan who was a bore!
