For as far back as I remember of ITV [1968 on], they put out programmes at 9pm to fill the slot up to News at Ten rather than the actual merit of their length, and quite a few of the drama series they have put out since, have, alas. justified the sceptism.
How to account for, for instance, Hadleigh, The Main Chance, Public Eye, Moody and Pegg, Minder, Auf Widersen Pet, The Misfit?
