Why the award of one million was set in dollar for that
murderer to succed in the hit.
 
No one. He's still very much alive.

He's also not Arab, but from India, born in Bombay in 1947.

A hit was put out on him following the publication of his novel The Satanic Verses; fundamentalist Muslims were offended by his treatment of the Prophet Muhammad (and his calling the wives of the Prophet prostitutes) in this work.
 
Nobody murdered him - he is still alive. A fatwā was placed in his name for his controversial novel 'The Satanic Versus' which supposedly portrayed the Prophet Muhammed in a negative light.
