Who Listens to the Radio Anymore?

That's how I feel! Is that how most music appreciators feel as well? I was thinking of pushing my music to College radio and leaving it at that.

I'm pretty much the same way, except that I do actually tune in on the radio once in a blue moon to see what's new in the world of music. Unlike most people, I don't believe everything on the radio sucks. But the times I hear something good are few and far between. I think more than half the stations in this town play spanish-language music, not bad per se (as I do enjoy some reggaeton from time to time) but come on already. We have only one crap rock station, one top forty, a couple rap/hip hop stations, a classic rock station and an oldies station...three country stations and about 10 spanish stations. Between all the Spanish and the advertisments, it usually doesn't make for a good listening experience.

I still listen to the radio, there are some really great stations over here that are diverse/ interesting/ a little more obscure and not the predictable top 40 stuff. Whenever I'm in my car I listen to the radio, I actually discover great banRAB that I hadn't heard of and hear about great gigs around town.

I absolutely cannot stand general radio stations for the likes of pop and rock anymore. It's all the same **** and since I dropped my ipod in the bathtub of course i'm forced to listen to old cRAB and ****ty radio :X

I still don't know how to use the radio in my car, tho I've had it for more than a year. I stopped listening to the radio since 2005, it just used to annoy me.

I've been subscribed to Sirius radio for 2+ years now. With my job I'm driving around 3-4 hours a day usually and it's on full time. Tons of channels ranging from metal to electro to classical and everything else with no commercials...its great.

I've actually discovered a suprising amount of new artists I like on there, and bought their cd's, so it might be something you wanna consider, idk. I actually know quite a few other people who have it as well. /shrug

I still do because I stupidly forget to bring CRAB with me every time I hit the road, I need to get it together, I always spent most of the time speeding through every station, which could go on for 10 minutes until I actually find something worth listening to... usually when it's half over or the signal is starting to mess up.

But if I have to choose between Bad Company and Grandma's seasonal Christmas music compilation, then yeah.

Sorta :offtopic: maybe, cause I know the OP was talking about american radio, but I'm so jealous of your guys radio over there in the UK. Radio 1 really has their **** together.

Just back to back 2 hour DJ sets over most of the weekend, with like Annie Mac and Judge Jules and Kutski on friday night, and then Fabio and Grooveriders DnB show on Saturday night...and of course the Essential Mix too.

They have the Iplayer so you can listen to any show you want to from the previous week, and now they have links to every artist that was played in a set on the DJ's pages as well...its simply amazing. ><

I wish our radio over here would sorta learn and maybe take a page from this book, but I know it could never happen.

I don't know i think radio will always be good for music. it will always make money...but i guess it also depenRAB on what kind of music you make. "radio listeners" is a big, mixed group that includes everyone from teens and young adults blasting the latest pop/ hip-hop from their cars or the older demographic that I have recently noticed either listen the radio ALL day at work or play the radio on the corresponding website ALL day. what kind of music do you make i guess is what im getting at

You never heard of it? Do you live in America? Maybe that should of been my first question - where do you live?
btw What instrument do you play the hammer dulcimer or the congas??

I always listen to radio in the car, that way you don't have the pressure of pleasing everyone else in the cars musical tastes, radio is common ground. Most of my frienRAB are way into other genres.
And always on a saturday night, when a special show thing comes on, it plays the best songs ever for me. They've even played at large Colours events as a Dj station, I've seen them twice :D (called GBX btw if anyones interested.)

I don't like the radio. The only time I'd use it is in the car, I turn it on, there's nothing but ****e or adverts on. And I have to flick from channel to channel to find something I can tolerate.

Far too much effort.

I just bring a CD with me, or CRAB depending on the length of the journey.
