Who Listens to the Radio Anymore?

I make close to $100K a year from my music and wanted to ask everyone on here if I should even bother fighting to get my music onto the radio. Does anyone listen to radio anymore? Or better question, do people who really appreciate music listen to the radio anymore?

Yeah, it would make a difference to know the kind of music I do. Best example is if you look up "Shadow Complex Theme" on YouTube. I did the theme song for that video game recently and it's one that I'd push to radio if I were to push a song to radio of any kind.

Satellite radio probably is a great option. I'll definitely look into that!! Thanks for the tip!

Well there is part of your answer right there, why not get yourself a Youtube channel, and try out PBS radio/TV, they play a lot of non-pro and non-fimiliar artist all the time.

I've discovered the most popular three artists on my local radio are Michael Buble, Meat Loaf and Dire Straits.

Only one of those three are awesome unfortunately.

I apreciate music, and still listen to the radio. The thing that pisses me off is that when a new Black Eyed Peas song comes out, it's played like 3 times an hour, does my box in. So I usually find myself switching chanels alot.

No I hate the radio. If they had a station dedicated to the 90s though, I'd be all over it. Until then I'll stick to my weird stuff that I doubt will be played on the radio anytime soon.

I haven't listened to the radio since I was around 13 or 14 and got my CD player. A year later I got a CD player that could play MP3 CD's so rather than carrying 7 CD's in my bag, I could just have one CD in my CD player and choose between 5 to 7 albums. Then when I was 16 I got my 20 GB Creative Zen MP3 player was that awesome until the headphone jack decided to stop working. From there I used an iPod for awhile, but I ended up dropping it and the damn thing's hard drive frozen (Yes this was before they started using Flash Memory). My car has a cassette player in it so I have one of those blank cassettes with the wire that plugs into my MP3 player, plus I carry a few back up CD's incase my Zune battery dies. All in all, I've worked incredibly hard to make sure I never have to listen to the radio ever again. If I wanted to hear ad's every five minutes I'd watch TV.

Canwll: Well here, at the weekenRAB 2 stations do a special electronica thing, ones called GBXperience (DO NOT BUY THE CD) but maybe you would be interested in the podcasts, I mean it's alright. It plays some really good tunes, that are easily forgettable.

Strictly in the car pretty much. Which I don't drive much. There are some cool stations down between 87 and 90 FM. They change formats by the hour. From jazz to blues to reggae to old rnb. We have a few decent rock stations higher on the dial nowadays too. I gave up the XM subscriptions. It's a lot of money and they just raised rates to cover the new music licensing fee that pays the record labels and artists. I plug in the blackberry to the input jack in the car when necessary and play my own **** or stream Pandora too.
