Who knew World War III would start in an Asian country

thats the reason why there will be no WWIII

not worth starting a major conflict over a small country like Vietnam

same as NK

The problem with Afghanistan is that it wouldn't stay our ally without our direct involvement. The Taliban outlawed opium production when they had it their way.

Look up the history of German re-unification after the wall fell in 1989.

They still aren't finished rebuilding East Germany after spending tens of billions.

AND there was no war. There were no refugees. There were no fanatics attacking West German interests.

The entire Corean peninsula will be rebuilt in only a few years after a war ?

"............Following reunification of the two German states in 1990, Germany faced a challenge that was unique in history: Almost the entire East German industry was outdated; enormous efforts were called for to approximate living conditions in East and West.

Since reunification around 80 billion Euro, i.e. three percent of the GDP of the entire country, have been transferred annually.

Yet, the convergence process is proving to be more long-term than originally foreseen and especially fighting unemployment in East Germany is still a challenge............."

china's economy expanded 200% in the last year. Do you really think that $1-8 billion in debts would make china want to put everything on the line and change the status quo or would they just say fuck it and make that money back in the next few days. the people who really run china are making too much money to care. and for the arms trade, I don't think that enough $ is involved and plus it wouldn't make china look to good internationally if we found brand new chinese equipment that had been shipped into NK during the war.

The chinese are smart fuckers, they know NK isn't worth a damn.

China is just cool w/ NK because it's underground. Once they goes mainstream, China will be all "fuck NK"

WW3 i dont think so.

ROK would roll all over NK and have it finished within 100 hours, without our help.

Now if China becomes the requisite amount of upset with the situation, we may have a serious problem.

But I don't think they will because if we fail to pay them back for all our debt they lose out on that....... and if we stop buying all their products..... they lose out on that too.

Who didn't see war happening there?

NK vs SK
China v Taiwan
India v Pakistan

place is a clusterfuck

I never said a few years, however it will be quick relative to similar situations.

Furthermore you are acting as though Germany isn't presently the economic powerhouse of Europe, despite however much was spent in the former East Germany. For all those "problems" it remains a leading G8 country, that nobody could call poor.

I think so, too.

China was willing to get involved in the 50's because for a century (some could argue > a millenia) China was constantly at war with something, most often a civil war.

China in 2010 has not fought a major conflict in over 50 years. Their soldiers have no combat experience. The lessons learned were lessons learned 5 decades ago.

I believe China's capacity to make war is effected by it's general lack of experience, and it would be unwilling to enter as major of a conflict as Korea would prove to be, with it's involvement.

It would be directly engaging what is still undeniably the greatest military power in the world without question - the United States. Without that, even the ROK is no joke in terms of military equipment and preparedness. Even without those two, China is endangering the odds that all of our debt to her will ever get paid back, and a potential boycott of Chinese products by America would likely collapse their economy.

I had always understood that was their official position and they would occasionally behead someone for growing it but they still let it go on because it brought in so much money for them.

South Coreans won't do anything.

Look at all the shit the North has done to the South and the South has done nothing.

Even if the South wins the war, they'll have to rebuild the entire peninsula afterwards. Their economy will be in shambles for decades if they win.
