Me and my mates where having a discussion over who was at fault, i said it was a random villan, batman begins but my mate says it was the joker in the original batman film but yet another mate said it was a villan who shared a cell with the joker in the comics. Is there a proper answer? We have goggled but no answer, any help?

You are aware that Batman is a fictional character, and therefore neither he nor his parents actually exist aren't you? So, from that, nobody killed Batman's parents because there is no such person.

However, if you mean who originally killed Bruce Wayne's parents the first time that the character was created and that part of his life was first invented, it was a random un-named mugger in DC comics #33. This became Joe Chill in Batman #47 - and in DC #235 it turns out he wasn't a mugger but a hitman hired by a Mafia boss called Lew Moxon.

In the movies, Batman (1989) showed Jack Napier (the Joker) as being the murderer, whilst Batman Begins goes back to the Joe Chill story.

My God. See the light and crawl out of your own backside mate.

He only asked a question and you replied sounding like an obnoxious ass.

I don't know all the comic book history so I thought it was Jack Napier (The Joker) in the 1989 Batman movie. It's interesting to hear all the other versions of events though. :)

Damn batman isn't real, never knew that lol. The main one that we debated was the michael keaton movie where only 1 of us knew that it was the joker.

It is amazing what we will talk about after a few beers, thanks for the replys though.

No, Two Face kills Robin's parents. The story of Bruce's parents being killed is revisited in Batman Forever as it mirrors what happens to Robin, and gives weight as to why Bruce takes Dick Grayson in.

It doesn't so much rewrite who killed Bruce's parents but it also doesn't specify it was Jack Napier as in the first film. They show a similar flashback to the one Bruce has in 1989's Batman, but in the flashback the killer is played by a different actor to the one who played Napier, and he doesn't say the line' ...have you ever danced with the Devil in the pale moonlight?'

Its left to the audience to decide if the character is meant to be Jack Napier or whether the films are ret-conning that. As the films, despite continuity issues are set in the same universe, I have always taken it to be Napier, even though they don't say so.

Still if Harvey Dent can go from being a black guy (Billy Dee Williams) to a white guy (Tommy Lee Jones) then I guess anything is possible. :D

I dont know exactly but the way its carried out in Batman Begins is very good but i think i like the version where The Joker kills his parents best.

Agreed. Batman (1989) had a very plausible storyline concerning Bruce Wayne's Parents' murder which suited the storyline perfectly for the time but in this new modernised setting it suits the Joe Chill explanation.
