In any field. Some good examples I could think of were Steven Spielberg, Sergei Brin, Larry Page, Joe Lieberman, John Stewart. Can anyone think of someone that tops them?

I would like to clarify: American BORN (Einstein, Kissinger, Rothschild would not be in this category)

Spielberg is a good one. My first reaction was another film maker named Louis B. Mayer who founded Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer (MGM, later MGM/UA) but he was born in Minsk.

The first name that pops to my mind is Henry Kissinger, diplomat and Secretary of State in the 1970's, despite the fact he was Jewish (German born) or maybe because of it, he could work with not only Israel but the Arab countries, too. While there is still a lot of trouble in the Mid East, Israel and Egypt or Syria are rarely involved directly in wars today. The Camp David Accords during Carter's administration has a lot to do with that, but Kissinger's work during the Nixon and Ford years laid a groundwork.

But basically in America, it does not matter if you are Jewish, Christian, etc. or should not. So who the 'most influential" Jewish person is should not make a difference, at least in the fact that they are Jewish. Who is the most influential Methodist? Who is the most influential Catholic? Etc.
