Who is the Most Hated Person in the History of the Animation Industry?

Top 5 Worse Enemies of Cartoons (5 least, 1 worst):

5.Michael Eisner-Ruined Disney till Iger came to the rescue
4.Eddie Seltzer-No one with no sense of humor has the right to run a cartoon studio thats ment to be funny
3.Paul Terry-Made poor cartoons
2.Jamie Kellner-Ruined and devastated WB
1.Peggy Charren-Nearly destroyed cartoon history in the 60's

Oh yeah, remove Walt Disney and Hanna-Barbera from the list, they're legends.

And yet people do. Animation is a business, just like any other. I do, however, agree that Selzer was the worst kind of animation producer; the kind whom doesn't know (nor care) jack about the craft that he's been placed in charge of. Plenty of businesses employ supervisors who are completely unqualified for their appointed positions. BTW, it's Selzer, not "Seltzer". Seltzer is "Plop-plop, fizz-fizz".

So just having a low budget makes Paul Terry your "enemy"? I'm not a Terrytoons fan either, but I don't hate the man for producing them. More to the point, I've never even met him. I don't know what kind of person Paul Terry was, so I can't judge him as a human being. I think throwing around the term "enemy" for artists/producers whose work you don't personally care for is being unnecessarily harsh.

In all fairness, I don't know much about these guys listed so nevermind my earlier post. (it was 4:00 A.M and I was too tired to do my research)

As for walt disney, I remember talking to my mom a week ago about the whole racist thing with him. I asked her if that was true and she said that never happened, not that she knew of atleast.

Isn't johk K. hated because of how close minded he is with the animation industry along with a bunch of reasons too complicated for me to remember?

Walt was not a nice man. Very aloof ,,Proof?

Let us take one example. Carl Stalling ..you know the guy who did the music for the Warner Cartoons..

Well before the Warner Bros. Toons, he worked for Disney. He scored Steamboat Willie, and Skeleton Dance. Those who know animation, know that these are pure classics..
..Well, Carl and Disney had some kind of problem and Carl went to Warners.
Honestly, I do not know the disagreement. But Walt was very very cheap. Cheap in what he paid his people, not cheap in the extras that they had on the job. (also, not cheap in what he did with his profits from his toons, He reinvested profits in his company to produce better product..as he saw it.].
.. So, there was a lot of resentment towards Walt... Walt would give employees the latest and greatest tools to work with, and pay them half the price of what the competition was paying..Walt's attitude was like, ..."It is an honor working for me.and...you had better like it."

..It was not pretty...

..the real question is this...does it matter? Walt was not a nice guy, treated some of his employees poorly, without respect..so what?

His art surpassed all others, and he created art and animation which is great..

....or......Does the end justify the means?

Well, that is a decision that all of us have to make. Do we need to know the real person behind the mirror? Do we need to know how the genius created the art? Sure, why not. It gives us more information about the genius. I would like to know..Would you? or does it matter to you?
....Yes,..for me, I don't know about you.

That'd be a pretty funny visual.

I should've said lawyers or went to law school. For example, Chris Sheridan and Steve Callaghan went to Yale. It's not uncommon in primetime TV writing. The Simpsons had an episode which mocked the Itchy and Scratchy writers for being "Harvard grads."

They were never the pioneers of Limited Animation nor did they make the first TV cartoon. That honor would go to Crusader Rabbit which was produced by Jay Ward in 1949.

Some of the techniques for limited animation, were used before in theatrical cartoons; like held cels for parts of the character's body was used before. Vehicles being moved on a single cel or frame has also been done in theatrical cartoons before.

Terrytoons apparently pioneered some of the techniques used in TV animation but of course they haven't been aired on TV in about 20 years.:(

The crack at Harvard grads is specifically because a lot of alumni friom the Harvard Lampoon go on to write for Saturday Night Live and other sitcoms. Conan O'Brien was a member, and there are a number of Simpsons writers and producers who were members as well. It's very much of an industry in-joke.

It's this line of thinking that's made me stop thinking of Seth MacFarlane as a no-talent hack, and actually caused me to recently think about finally going back and catching up on the post-renewal episodes of "Family Guy". I'll admit that what I saw of Season 4 wasn't what I expected, and it isn't how I'd write an animated sitcom, but that doesn't mean I shouldn't try to enjoy it for what it is.

And besides, I'm a cartoonist. If I don't like what I see, I can always satirize it.
