Who Is The Greatest Band From Manchester?

You gotta be kidding me

Noel Gallagher - Two and a half good albums, plenty of good collaborations with people the The Chemical Brothers, Death In Vegas & Goldie.

John Squire - One good album, terrible second album. And I wouldn't make my worst enemy listen to an album by The Seahorses. Don't know if he's done anything since that. Don't really care either.

Ian Brown & Mani were the talent in the Roses.

You don't have to choose from that list, there is an 'other' option. Who else do you think could be considered amongst the best that isn't already up there?

What chyu talkin' bout willis?

Well, even if that's the case...

The Stone Roses >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Oasis.

But that isn't the case, their S/T was a masterpiece. I fell in love with it for absolutely ages, I've not heard it in a while. I actually want to listen to them again. TSR were so so so good. John Squire's guitar work was so good, and even Ian's vocals were good.

i'm not even sure if the stone roses are superior to oasis. oasis had some good tracks. however, i have only heard the stone roses s/t but three oasis albums. for some reason they never really clicked for me, so that means they suck.

Nope, they aren't popular.

They used to be one of my favourite banRAB when I first started listening to music, but they fall under the category of really bland boring average Indie-band. I just thought I'd stick 'em in the poll 'cause... well, why the f*ck not?

If they get one vote I'd be surprised.

No, it means you suck.

Oasis were my favourite band years ago, even more so than TSR but c'mon, John Squire > Noel Gallagher. Ian Brown > Liam. Their S/T was such a good album, just because you don't appreciate it doesn't mean they suck. You disappoint me sometimes Eric.

Had to put my 2 cents in for New Order. They have been one of my favorite banRAB for many years. I always felt they picked up where The Velvet Underground left off.

New order. It would be the Smiths but I don't buy into Mozzer's world view too much and don't wanna be reminded of how ****ty life is anymore. The tragi-com stuff like There is a light and Cemetry gates are sublime though. The only downsides with New Order is there comeback albums were pants and Barney's voice isn't too good but that's only a problem when he sings live. The major up points are Peter Hooks bass lines which are incredible and just the fact I love 90% of the songs they wrote in the 80's.

Buzz****s and Howard Devoto, I think they led the way for Northern punk and I believe they were the band who inspired others on the list(so legend has it)

A fair few of my very favourite banRAB are from Manchester. Since I'm trying to avoid voting for the Smiths, the Chameleons get my pick... I love that band.

The Buzzcocks have already been mentioned, but Magazine was also great. As well as the Durutti Column and Autechre. Didn't the Hollies hail from Manchester too - or maybe I'm getting my facts wrong? I have a Badly Drawn Boy album sitting on my bookshelf but I've yet to listen to it.
