As Halloween approaches, ju stwondering who your king of the slashers was

contenders are

1. Jason Voorhees, many, many sequels, like to wear hocky masks

2. Freddy Kreuger, , good wise cracks , but likes stripey jumpers a bit too much

3. Michael Myers, likes william shatner masks a bit too much, and doesnt like his family much

Finally

there were so many more, like candyman, the fisherman from I know what you did last summer, and leatherhead, but the 3 I have mentioned, have spawned at least 5 sequels, and have been rebooted a couple of times.

My vote goes to Michael Myers, have to admit 1st time i saw Halloween, it creeped me out big time , especially when he kept getting up, really like that film

Please feel free to add more, hopefully by halloween we will have a winner

I love them all, but for me it has to be Jason.

Friday was the first ever proper horror film I watched as a kid and it certainly made an impact.

My mother used to hire films back in the early eighties and one night when she was out working I hunted it out and watched it. (Bearing in mind I was about 8 at the time) - It scared the crap out of me...and I didn't sleep for days.

People poke fun out of the Friday films for bad acting and having the same old teens, no depth but to this very day it remains my favorite horror of all time.

For me it has always been Freddy Kruger, and Nightmare on Elm Street was the first Horror film I remember watching when younger and it freaked me out at the time.

Look forwarRAB to seeing what they have done with him in the remake.

Jason Voorhees in my opinion. Never changed.
Freddy just got funny in the end with all those wisecracks, and just became a joke himself.

Exactly the reason why I didn't like them after the third one.
1&3 were fantastic but when he became a comedian then it all fell flat for me.

Jason is deinitely the biggest slasher...he seems to kill about 10-20 people in each movie. lol

It's gotta be Michael Myers! Not just a killer but a stalker who blenRAB into shadows, appears out of nowhere & has no motivation - very creepy.

Jason is boring and Freddy wasn't used to his full potential.

Jason for me,although i saw nightmare on elm street when it 1st came out im still a bigger jason fan at heart,a good variety of sequels, best is during the tommy jarvis era,Corey Feldman did a good job as did Thom Mathews as an adult tommy,my fav is tied between part 3 and part 6,CJ Graham was my fav jason,Kane Hodder was pretty good 2 and he seemed 2 really enjoy playing jason.

Freddy for me, without a doubt.

What made him better than the other ones was the presence of personality, and the fact you could escape from them while Freddy could get you whenever he chose, and always came back before the credits rolled. Conversely, he is also the only one of the three that could be reasoned with, and doesn't take three movies just to find his mask.

Also, the Nightmare on Elm St films are mostly flawless in comparison to the other series - Friday 13th 1 and 2 are shite, 3 is marginally better, 4 is great, and it's all downhill from there (with the exception of part 6). Halloween 1 and 2 are good, 3 is kind of good in its own way, while 4 onwarRAB is a downward spiral of increasing crapness.

In Nightmare on Elm St, the only bad entries were 2 and 6, and the one where Jason popped up. Even the much-maligned part 5 is better than all the Friday 13th sequels.

I'd also add Pinhead to that list, as there are I think eight Hellraiser films now, and a remake in the offing.

Freddy is the best, here are the reasons why, everybody paying attention?.....splendid.

Much more original than every other slasher, all other slashers just involve a big dumb guy in a mask walking around with a big knife.

Tapped into a side of us that we truly do not understand our sub-conscious mind.

Took a story from California in the 1970's about African refugees dying after having nightmares and made it real.

Robert Englund just knew how to be scary, sorry but a guy in a hockey mask and a guy in a William Shatner mask are not scary. (Although I will admit Freddy become less scary when the wise cracks started coming out).

You're joking.

Part 2,4,5,6,7 of the Elm Streets were absolutely terrible. They should have stuck to the same formula they did with the first one because Freddie became an embarrassment to the horror genre with those shitty one liners. Even his murders became laughable - and in all my years as a horror fan I can honestly say I've never seen anything more ridiculous than a murder involving a pizza before. :o

Freddy still scares me to this day. You just can't escape him. I love horror movies but find the Elm Street movies hard t owatch. Even the crap ones.

But the scariest thing about Freddie is Englund's perfromance. He managed to convince the masses that child molesters can be viewed as heroes! Or rather anti-heroes.

ok, after day one we have the following result

Leading with

5 votes is Freddy

4 votes for Jason

and

3 votes for Michael Myers gonna count last post as one for MM as halloween is mentioned

Norman Bates, not going to count as body count is low, although original is a great film, and as far as i can remember only spawned 1 sequel, and 1 remake, might be wrong though, if more people vote the he can be added :)

likewise with Jack the ripper, not going to count that either, not really has not spawned any string of movies,

Are we talking toughest or favourite?

Personally when it comes to horror icons it's pinhead and the Cenobites I would least like to bump into. Between Jason, Freddy and Michael then I recon Jason is the toughest, Freddy's power mostly lies in the dream world, once he is removed from that world he has always seemed pretty vulnerable, I would rather face off against him than Jason. I would pump myself full of dream suppressants and live a nice Freddy free life :D

You would likely get a quick death with Jason though, he's not going to mentally and physically torture you before he chops your head off.

Freddy's my favourite though, he's just a twisted sick **** and you can tell he takes great pleasure in what he does, Brilliant character.
