i would like to know if anyone could help me out wiht Christina Rossettis A Better Resurrection

I have no wit, no words, no tears;
My heart within me like a stone
Is numbed too much for hopes or fears.
Look right, look left, I dwell alone;
I lift mine eyes, but dimmed with grief
No everlasting hills I see;
My life is in the falling leaf:
O Jesus, quicken me.

My life is like a faded leaf,
My harvest dwindled to a husk:
Truly my life is void and brief
And tedious in the barren dusk;
My life is like a frozen thing,
No bud nor greenness can I see:
Yet rise it shall--the sap of spring;
O Jesus, rise in me.

My life is like a broken bowl,
A broken bowl that cannot hold
One drop of water for my soul
Or cordial in the searching cold;
Cast in the fire the perished thing;
Melt and remould it, till it be
A royal cup for Him, my King:
O Jesus, drink of me.

It's very negative- she feels like she lacks emotion, conversation and intelligence. She describes her life as a 'falling leaf' (sees herself as failing) and 'a broken bowl' (empty).
The poem is religious for Easter theme. It sounds like she is depressed and asking Christ to save her from her meaningless life.
I think there is one hope of positive within the poem 'Yet rise it shall--the sap of spring.'

I can't be of any more help! This was interesting trying to analyse a poem! Not done this for a few years! thanks.

The whole poem is based on sadness, emptiness, death, triumph she wants to come back for a new better life.

Shes miserable, so is poetry, she wants jesus to give here one. Shes going along way round.

Its about shaggin

this person is clearly very depressed and a perhaps christian. she may be using jesus like when atheists say "oh my god!" or she may be a devout christian. either way, she believes her life is meaningless and pathetic

I love poetry.....
It seems like she feels so empty as though there is nothing left worth living for in her life's eyes..and it sounds as though she is looking for faith and hope. She is asking Jesus to lift her head and help her find meaning in her life and her days.....just a guess...

This is a cry from the heart of someone in deep despair and hopelessness who realizes that Jesus is the only salvation for the soul.
