Who is better batter? Ichiro Suzuki or David Pujols?

Intuition actually is yelling Ichiro at me cuz I know he can get a ton of base hits and he actually gets a lot more hits per season than Pujols.

But Pujols doesnt hit with the help of his speed. Ichiro grounds into infeild hits a lot. Pujols is a pure hitter who hits it out without a doubt.

Ichiro and Pujols are both tops at what they do, but they have different MO's so you can't really compare them.

Agreeing with the above poster, Ichiro is the best pure hitter in baseball. His .360 right now to Pujols .318, it's no contest. Ichiro also has the speed, but he's not the power guy that Pujols is.

Let's just say I wouldn't mind Ichiro batting a couple spots above Pujols on my team, ha.

Who is David Pujols. If you mean Albert Pujols i would say he is a better power hitter but i think Ichiro may be the best pure hitter in the game

Don't just say "Check stats" I need legit answers in here, thanks people.

BQ: Is David Wright the best Mets' player right now?
Oh damn, sorry people I meant "Albert Pujols"

Weird!
For the 2nd answerer that's obviously the lamest joke that I've ever seen.

Epic fail.
Why are you guys took my fault that seriously?

Come on just answer my damn Q and ignore my fault!

I actually like Ichiro. He's probably the best pure hitter since Rose. He has over 3000 hits(counting his time in Japan). He is actually a good power hitter too. He is a 20-25 HR guy if he wants to be. Not sure why he doesnt choose to be that type of hitter here in the states though. In big situation I would take Pujos cause he's been there done that. Seatlle sucks so i think Ichiro has it harder plus he's a lead off guy so less opportunity for RBI's. Overall i think i would go with Ichiro (just cause i know most people would take Pujols). gotta show him some love.

Speed and power plus playing for both the Mets and Cardinals?! David Pujols by far!

david pujols. You fail

But to answer. Pujols is better. They will both be hall of famers tho.

BQ: David Wright. Hurt just like the rest of the mets roster.

Everyone makes mistakes. You were probably thinking David because of David Wright. However, Suzuki and Pujols are both the best at what they do. Suzuki is more of the avg./speed guy and Pujols is the power hitter. It's hard to compare them.

BQ: He's the best position player that the Mets have. Santana is the best pitcher.

There is no real answer to your question. It depends on what you define as 'best.' If you value speed, lead-off hitters, and outfielders then the answer is Ichiro. If you would rather have power, clean-up, and a decent first baseman then Pujols. Pujols is younger, which adds to his value. Overall, I think Pujols is a better hitter. He can do more. His OBP is right there with Ichiro and he is more of a deep threat. At the end of the day though, they are both fantastic hitters.

Their careers both started in 2001 so comparisons are pretty straightforward

Ichiro has a better batting average and he hits more triples.

Pujols hits far more home runs, a lot more doubles, drives in way more runs, scores more, walk more and strikes out less.

I'm a die-hard Mariners fan but its no contest, Albert Pujols is the superior hitter. (Of course, compared to almost anyone, Pujols is the superior hitter). If I could only pick one for my team, I would take Pujols. But as the above answer said, ideally you would have Ichiro hitting in front of Pujols.

Comparison:
On Base %: Pujols .441 (2 in the league), Ichiro .391
Slugging %: Pujols .666 (league leader), Ichiro .463
Extra Base Hits (Ichiro's specialty): Pujols 33, Ichiro 26
Homers: Pujols 40 (league leader), Ichiro 7
Runs: Pujols 98 (league leader), Ichiro 69
RBIs: Pujols 107 (T2 in the league), Ichiro 34

Pujols is better by far.

BQ: I think so.
