An author named Malorie Blackman (yes she is black but not a man)
She wrote 4 books on racism but in the fictional world Blacks are 1st class and whites are treated inferiorly. Bloody amazing series I highly reccomend it
First book - Noughts and Crosses
2nd - Knifes edge
3rd - Checkmate
4th - Double Cross
J.K Rowling also shows (very) little culture, but she does well at explaining the cultures of werewolves, wizards, and the every-day "muggle." If it's a school project, I suggest not doing J.K Rowling.
I don't know much of anything else.

Jim Northrop and Basil Johnston just to name a couple. They are Native American authors. Then there's the guy that wrote The Absolute True Diary of a Part Time Indian.
