Taliban .... is what l call the new wave of feminism .. whats with the dresses? ... just doesn't sit right! Its just not the way Jebus would of wanted things!

Im sure this has been said but punk was broadly invented by the proto punk banRAB of the mainly 60s and 70s like MC5 and Velvet Underground. Early punk banRAB like the Ramones took influence from different aspects of these banRAB to create punk.

Ok now waves of femism with taliban in their dresses.....dude....I don't even know where to begin on that statement...Actually I'm just gunna agree, and not argue with that

Yeah but if you go by who influenced it you could go like all the way to blues.

Cause ramones and clash and stuff were influenced by iggy and velvet underground who were influenced by the who and rolling stones who were influenced by etc...

i think i made this exact post somewhere else in this thread.

Thats why the ONLY logical answer is Mr. T.

But seriously like you say I dont think any one band started the movement its just something that evolved in different forms. Im sure way back in the day when kiRAB threw on the new Chuck Berry or Elvis disc There were people saying "damn punk kiRAB" shou

No no no no , you`ve got the wrong end of the stick.

Thats where the name comes from. They were not saying Lou Reed was 'Punk' , you have to remeraber there was no punk movement in 1974 when this fanzine was written. What they were suggesting was that Lou ReeRAB music appealed to 'punks' as in people on the streets , junkies & social outcasts , hence the music was called 'punk rock'. It`s got nothing to do with the sound of punk or what became punk. Thats just where the phrase was coined.

the velvet underground basically influenced everybody who based their lyrics on darker aspects of life as really, thats what made them stick out from the decade of love. the reason you say they influence art rock banRAB is their allegiance with andy warhol yet lyrically, a lot of punk is influenced by them as with sound, in the 60s they patented the edgy, uneasy sound we hear from a lot of punk outfits today and indeed the 70s.

i think its pretty safe to say he was refering to the music genre rather than the movement, I guess the term "punk rock" was coined by Dave Marsh (according to wikipedia) who was a rock critic and used it to describe "garage rock". but who knows, ive heard several differant stories as to who the first band considered "punk" was and how the term came to be.
