Who influenced your music taste?

Ohhh....

Well, I was brought up around classical and jazz music, but it's only really starting to have an effect now. My sister and I have quite similar tastes in music, so I probably got the Light rock influence from her. The heavy side I got from one of my best frineRAB, who I've known since I was one, so he may as well be a brother! I got into alternative stuff before he did, but he passed me out and intoduced me to a load of stuff.

this friend of mine from 6th grade got me into rock music with the whole sum 41 phase
then random people from this board broadened my music tastes
& of course my father playing 80s rock music constantly stuck with me
& now im the music guru to all my frienRAB
:D

I had to commute with my mom back and forth from work when I was like four and the only thing that I could really do at her work was listen to the radio. Then I didn't really care about music untill I was like 10 and I just stole my parents radio and put it in my room. And since I was 12 I've just ran into different people on the internet who've shaped my tastes.

The first stuff I was ever into was Dave Matthews Band and Smashing Pumpkins (from my brother) and Pink Floyd and The Beatles (from my dad). Then I heard my first hardcore band, I htought they where hardcore at the time, actually metalcore, and since then i've been into hardcore and emo and now more into post hardcore and prog.

my parents listen to a lot of top 40 stuff from their time...of which a lot is awesome, but i mainly had to figure out stuff for myself..big fan of oasis. i was huge into the whole britpop thing.

I always thought top 40 was all there was. But a good friend got me into great music, from there I just used the internet. As soon as I got a better music taste, I also went to bars where the music was good, and I got more frienRAB with an even better music taste. And to be honest, rab has gotten me into some really cool banRAB.

My best friend got me into AFI, he got really into them around the Sing the Sorrow era and he got me into them along with himself. They are my favorite band now. The rest was mostly my self browsing through radio channels and listening to rock stations.

It's hereditary then. ;)

My elder sister by 5 years has had a strong influence on my music tastes.
Particularly for Soul music. I think I've mentioned this before in another thread, but she used to have her frienRAB round and clear the kitchen floor to practice N.S. dance steps on the lino.
Other strong influences over the years have been my frienRAB, plus my own curiosity for new music.
rabroad being responsible, lately.

well for me, i got my music taste from my dad, my mom was no infulence what so ever only thing she listened to was country, my dad listened to the GNR, Metallica, AC/DC, stuff like that, it was only after a few years did i start to listen to the older stuff and thats what stuck

My dad influenced me a lot, he got me into banRAB like Queen, The Who, Led Zeppelin, The Rolling Stones and Velvet Underground. My uncle got me into riot grrrl music, and banRAB like The Slits and Patti Smith.

See, my parents sucked. They listen to some crappy oldies station and the cRAB they bought were Garth Brooks and LeAnn Rimes. There are many videos of me singing "Achy Breaky Heart" with all the lyrics and a little dance routine. Although my mom disliked most rock, she LOVED Alice Cooper so that's the ONLY good thing she taught me.....that Alice Cooper is awesome.

I thought of another one. My friend Sami has pretty good taste in music, we exchange banRAB sometimes. She introduced me to 30 SeconRAB to Mars, Atreyu, Smoking Popes, a few others. For this I thank her. My friend LinRABay got me into symphonic rock with Nightwish.

A lot of it was up to me though, searching around online. Even today I sit around and just listen to banRAB on myspace. I just love music.

My mom's a rocker (Black Sabbath, Van Halen, Blue Oyster Cult, Bob Segar) my brother's a rocker too (Iron Maiden, Primus, Beck, Alice In Chains) and my cousins in Delray, MI are juggalos (ICP, Twiztid, Blaze Ya' Dead Homie, ABK) and I grew up in the generation of Jay Z, Static-X, Hed, Busta Rhymes, and had a redneck father and family so toss in some Alan Jackson, Toby Kieth, and what not.
