if i chose to go in the army it would be far from bomb defusal especially When most of them in Afghanistan. are triggered remotly or by mobile phone. Your defently treding on fin ice. and the worst thing is they don't even get payed much. i respect them for there bravery and sacrifices. but Afghanistan is an illegitimate war.
Why dont they just drive over the land with tanks surly a Tank can take an IED exsplosion
I am pretty sure they could fit some sort of xray under the tank that can scan the ground for abnormalities. and they should buy more of those robots as well to disarm them from a distance
